Mgr. et Mgr. Róbert Antal, Ph.D.

Head of the Department of Archaeological Monument Care

Róbert Antal is an archaeologist and lawyer at the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Brno, lecturing at Masaryk University in Brno (Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Law). He holds a Master’s degree in Classical Archaeology and a PhD in Environmental Law, with specialisation in cultural heritage. His research interests lie in legal instruments for the protection of archaeological heritage (development-led archaeology, metal detecting, the illegal trade in antiquities) and industrial archaeology.
